Dave Jones (Loon Clan/Anishnabe), born and raised on the Garden River First Nation near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, is of Ojibwe ancestry and the second of four children. As a child often dubbed the "teacher's pet," Dave developed a lifelong passion for learning and education, and wanting more. He actively advocates for the benefits of education, particularly among youth but now seemingly more adults and elders seek his wisdom. Dave earned a Bachelor’s in Sociology and a Bachelor of Education with a focus on Primary/Junior education. He taught in various settings, including Senior Kindergarten, High School, and at Nipissing University. And now, he is renowned with teaching confidence and leadership and more worldwide.
In 1999, Dave founded Turtle Concepts to teach “the magic of confidence” and inspire lasting change. And he has been able to witness his teachings in so many areas where he is welcomed. His deep understanding & experience of Indigenous culture, combined with modern methodologies, enables him to deliver culturally relevant sessions on topics like teamwork, creating a confident workplace, suicide prevention, gang awareness, life skills, career readiness, and more. An award-winning motivational speaker, author, photographer, and musician, Dave promotes healthy living through his various campaigns and creative work.
