Laurenne Koostachin is a Cree woman born and raised in Attawapiskat First Nation. Growing up in an isolated community in northern Ontario, she is a mother of six and a proud grandmother of eighteen grandchildren, five of whom are autistic. Laurenne works for Atta Health Services as a Program Coordinator and Home Visitor for the Indigenous Healthy Babies Healthy Children (IHBHC) program. She has been working as an IHBHC worker for almost 23 years and recently began working as a FASD/Child Nutrition worker, combining both roles. She is passionate about supporting babies, pregnant women, young mothers, fathers, and families, focusing on children’s wellness. Laurenne is excited and honoured to be a panelist for this gathering to share her knowledge and experiences.
